Over four sessions, students will explore abstraction through layering, composition, and mixed media techniques to create expressive figurative artwork. Students will work on deconstructing the figure, developing a portrait in simply shapes, and work on developing narrative through movement and abstraction. By the end of the workshop, students will have a deeper understanding of shape based abstraction, mark making, and visual storytelling. 
 
*This workshop is an introductory class but students should have some basic drawing and painting experience.
